On February 24, 2024 Pacolet Town Council, the Administrator and representatives of the Appalachian Council of Governments and the Municipal Association of South Carolina met for the Council Annual Goals Retreat. Below are the goals that were identified by the Council for the year.

Top Priority

  • Enhance sidewalk cleanliness by removing debris to enhance walkability.
  • Enhance the condition of Pacolet by maintaining and cleaning various town facilities such as storage buildings, the post office, bridge, and Marysville School.
  • Create events and opportunities to involve the community with the Town Council.

Medium Priority

  • Revitalize Marysville School and explore opportunities to enhance and finance other historical sites.
  • Find grants and investment opportunities, both public and private, to secure funding for enhancing amphitheater and “the flats”.
  • Collaborate with Spartanburg County to enhance roadways by incorporating tree canopies and resolving drainage concerns.

Low Priority

  • Allocate funds in the upcoming budget for capital improvements and economic development incentives, prioritizing support for small businesses.
  • Expand housing options
  • Complete streetscape project to create downtown look and feel that promotes a sense of community while maintaining Pacolet’s charm.

Honorable Mention

  • Make use of existing recreational facilities to host youth sports leagues and programs, and provide recommendations for use of the Benjamin E. Mayes building.
