July 2020
Old News: Currently, the Town has not taken action as to require masks in public places, but I ask that as community we come together and continue to practice social distancing and wear a mask whenever around people to help to slow the spread of the virus. Our zip code has seen 29 cases thus far. My thoughts and prayers go out to the community members who have lost loved ones from COVID-19.
Old News: Just a reminder – please be sure you and your family have filled out the 2020 Census. Participating in the Census is vital in making sure that Pacolet receives federal funding for roads, education, etc. The data is also used for redistricting purposes for our state and federal elected positions. So far Pacolet has a 42% response rate, this is 18% lower than average response rate in Spartanburg County. You are able to fill out the census online in just a matter of minutes at 2020census.gov, or by telephone 844-330-2020.
New News: The Town of Pacolet has started a weekly Farmer’s Market; the market will run July-September. The first Market was this past Saturday. Thank you to the 8 vendors, and 250+ guests who came out and supported our local community. Be sure to come out and shop local. Every Saturday morning 9-noon at the Pacolet Amphitheater. I look forward to adding new vendors to the Market. If you are interested in becoming a vendor please send me an email (agantte@townofpacolet.com) or stop by Pacolet Town Hall. Thank you to our sponsors Vulcan Materials, JF Floyds Mortuary, Pacolet IGA, and Pacolet Milliken for helping make the Farmer’s Market a success.
New News: The fiscal year 2020-2021 budget was approved at this past council meeting. A few highlights of the approved budget include funds allocated to purchase a new trash truck as well as a new police patrol vehicle.
