Council Updates

Sanitation
Betty Littlejohn
Mayor Pro Tempore
474-2114

Our department appreciates the cooperation of the citizens we serve. To better serve you, a letter to all citizens explaining proper procedures for sanitation services is enclosed. Your continued cooperation is very important. Call me if you have any questions or concerns.

Volunteer at work … A special thanks to
Bill Conselyea for volunteering to help pick up appliances and metal. Please call the town hall if you have items for pick up.

Roads and Bridges
Linda Chadwick
Council Member
474-2040

Many improvements have been made to our sidewalks. We would like to thank representative Lanny Littlejohn for allocating state monies for the sidewalk improvements. Once the county determines our portion of the county road maintenance fee is distributed, we will begin to make more infrastructure improvements.
I am always available to you, please call me if you have a concern or problem with roads, bridges or sidewalks.

Police
Willie Crocker
Council Member
474-3485

The police department is now on the web. The web site address is www.pacoletpd.org. Our email address is pacoletpd@charter.net. Check out our web site for lots of valuable information. If you have a crime tip, you can enter this information on our web site. The information you provide us is secure and private.
Departmental goals are: develop a new policy and procedure manual and obtain state certification, and help formulate an initial emergency response plan.

Annexation
Don Harmon
Council Member
474-9863

All properties owned by the town have been officially annexed. The bridge crossing the Pacolet River has also been brought into the jurisdiction of the town. If you are not currently inside the town limits and you wish
to become a part of the town, you may contact me for information.

Land Use Planning and Zoning
Sarah Isaac, Council Member
474-2736

Our Planning Commission and Board of Appeals met to complete a state mandatory orientation. The orientation was conducted by Chip Bentley, senior planner, Appalachian Council of Government. This study session enables the members of both groups to erve our town with more confidence and knowledge. As town council members, we would like to thank each of these volunteers or the time they give to us. We are grateful for the work that they do.

Your help is need in getting the word out about a special upcoming event during the Indian Summer Festival, October 14 & 15. We are in the planning stages for a reunion of students from Benjamin E. Mayes and Pacolet High School. Please tell your family and friends here and beyond about our plans. More information forthcoming, please contact me at sarahisaac55@hotmail.com or Vera Elaine Anderson Ware at 474-2583.

Street Department
Conley Jumper

Council Member
474-2905

I would like to thank the employees of the street department for their contributions to town. A new wood chipper has been purchased.  This purchase was a necessity. In an effort to provide better service to our citizens, we must require that all trimmings from trees and shrubbery be placed separately from metal or other debris. Employees are instructed not to separate as this delays service to other areas within the town. A letter enclosed in the newsletter explains our departmental requirements. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or our
town clerk.
